Fourth-generation DS/DJ body. 4.7 and 5.7 remain. 6.7 Cummins adds more aftertreatment logic. TIPM and PCM talk constantly — a “bad TIPM” diagnosis is often a dead PCM bus driver. On the 2010 Dodge Ram Truck the PCM usually sits engine bay; second-gen diesel trucks often used a firewall-mounted controller, later trucks move it to the driver fender or beside the master cylinder.
It runs two banks of coils and VVT on later 4.7s. Dakota and Ram trucks used it as the mid V8. Timing-chain jobs on these engines often get a PCM blamed afterward — sometimes it really is the module.
